WinTV-PVR 250/350 (Model 30xxx, 32xxx, 48xxx) > Drivers and Hauppauge software (PVR 250/350)
Happy or not Happy with your WinTV-PVR 250?.
dddibley:
Probably not too many more entries for this thread since the PVR 150 has taken over, but decided I'd go with a proven piece of hardware (the 250). Would have gone 350 but they're not available around here.
Like most posts.. the WinTV2000 works fine. Additional software is more of an embarassment than anything. Reviews would have been much better if Hauppauge had just left it out.
They should have included VideoReDo. So far I'm a happy camper.

I would have to say NTSC happy - overall. I used the card to capture commercial VHS tapes to archive on DVD. It has pretty good quality for live capture. I did have to fix the dropped frames from the captures using Videoredo to keep things in sync. Softwarewise, I couldnt get the audio resolution to stay where set - 384MB/s is all it would record in. Also there is no way to close GOPs, as it records with open GOPs. So I agree with many others about the need for improved software.

50/50 (happy/not)
I've had this thing for some time now and everything works as expected,
except for the editor.
Earlier I made changes to delete commercials and it seemed the editor was
not sensitive enough when moving forward or back. Thus I had to leave small
clips of commercials in so I could move ahead.
Recently, I had a system crash and went thru much headache pain trying to
restore XP and all my aps. Therefore, I downloaded all new stuff from Hauppauge.
Now, the editor doesn't like me at all. After I kick it off, if I touch the ap in
any way the view screen height and a full monitor width turn black. The view
screen is restored if I move the editor ap, but the remaining blackness remains.
Can't seem to resize the editor either.
And, when recording a program, I can't figure how to tell WinTV to put the
output where I want it. It just puts it where it wants to. That's not very
user friendly.
