Happy or not Happy with your WinTV-PVR 250?.

Just wonding how min of you are happy or are not happy?.
Please this for the WinTV-PVR 250 only

Detritus:
NTSC, 50% happy. The hardware has great potential and the picture quality is fairly good, even channel changing is fast enough now.

BUT: The software is not state-of-the-art, at all. The competition has much better software out there. If they would allow for people to write their own TV software, or better yet Linux drivers, I'd be 100% happy.

For now, I voted "NTSC Not Happy", because of the software. That will (I'm optimistic) change as soon as they rememedy that.

I must agree with Detritus. It's not the picture quality that is the problem but all those bugs in the software. In my case the lack of stereo sound on the tuner, the inability to use the -c or -p options (only get channel 1 for some sort of reason), wich also makes the scheduler not working. Lack of configuration of wintv2k (like keyboard shortcuts, mpeg playback settings, etc etc)

They should really think about a major restyling their aplication and making it less buggy and stable.

Again the same as Detritus, voted not happy (pal), mostly because of the software and drivers

PAL 50% happy. Which basically means that I am mainly happy with the 250. I have been capturing, burning and watching DVD's since it was released.

Main problems are;

Lip Synch issues - mostly minor but sometimes quite bad.

Scheduler issues - these have been around for a while, though.

Other issues have already been covered here.

On the plus side, Hauppauge do seem to be taking these issues seriously, and are going some way to dealing with them.

I give it a 50% with all the problems (I know about, anyway) based on very immature software. I would not have been able to use the dumb thing if it weren't for SHS help and this forum help. The capability seem there if software and documentation get to some reasonable level.
