hi guys !

what's the chance of adding an "always on" feature ? by this i mean adding a tee split and outputing always to a file with a preset length, sharing allowed. this way a mpeg viewer can pick up the output file and have a pseudo time slip feature. the second file would only be written to when the start recording signal came through.

regards, mike.

Just tried it to get stereo audio.
On the 250 system :
I launched graphedit, set the channel to 220, checked the tv audio settings, looked at the capture setting, then i enabled the "link related streams" setting in the crossbar (this always defaults back to disable) applyd the setting, runned the graph, and voila, stereo sound.
I exited graphedit, started wintvcap20 (-c220  -audio:AXAY) but unfortunalty only mono sound again.
On the 350 system i never get sound with graphedit anyway, so as was to be expected, also no sound with wintvcap20.

KK, the first time i run the graph i forgot to enable the "link related streams" wich gave me no sound, so my guess is that it has to something with that setting. Can you emulate what i do in graphedit, so enable it, apply settings, and run graph ?

Here is a part of the log file when I try a simple test...

2788 BuidGraph: AudioOutputMode = 0 -- OK

After that it just shuts itself down.

I more or less figured out where the problems with the mono audio came from.
I decided to install a earlier version of wintvcap, just to what would happen if i used it with the new drivers. I did this cause i only tried the 250 with old drivers and old wintvcap, never with the new drivers.
I choose to try version 1.5 because that was a version before some major changes (like adding the kivac15 filter).
I adjusted the source a bit (so that it wouldnt quit because it can't bind the crosbar to the capture and i had to use the IntializeTvAudioControl/IntializeCrossbarContro/IntializeTunerControl from the src of wintvcap163 because it failed to initialize with the original 1.5. After i changed these things i tried and got Stereo sound !

Of course i tested it again, and again, and again.

I also decided to unistall the adjusted 1.5 and try out both 1.63 and 2.0, both worked with sound, but Mono again
So back to the adjusted 1.5, but strange, also mono !!
I thought this might have somethign to do with some setting that is being set by the wintv2k as well as the 1.63/2.0 version and is not being set but just used by the 1.5, so that should mean that starting wintv2k should set it correctly again, so i did, shutdown wintv2k and tried 1.5 again, and i got stereo again.

So to summarize :
Start wintv2k -> Stereo Sound
Start adjusted 1.5 -> Stereo Sound
unistall 1.5, install 1.63
Start 1.63 -> Mono sound
Start Wint2k -> Stereo sound
Start 1.63 -> Mono sound
unistall 1.63, install adjusted 1.5
Start 1.5 -> Mono sound
Start wintv2k -> Stereo sound
Start 1.5 - Stereo sound

I did this several times and always the same result.
So whatever was changed between those versions is causing the mono problems, and maybe some of the other soudn problems pal people encounterd

KevinKiller:
We have an update.

This update adds the following keys to the ini file: StorageMode, DefaultDrive, DefaultPath, and MinFreeSpace.  These setting only effect -startr: parameters that don't have a '\' character in them.

If StorageMode=0, I put the file in 'My Documents\My Videos' and if that doesn't exist, then in 'My Documents'

If StorageMode=1, I put the file in DefaultDrive:\DefaultPath

If StorageMode=2, things are a little more complicated.  Jptaz and I worked this one out to support spreading the captures across multiple hard drives.  Ok, StorageMode=2 means the 'emptiest free drive':\DefaultPath.  A drive is free if it isn't being used by another instance of WinTvCap.  A drive is empty if it has more free space than MinFreeSpace (in Mb). Only drives with a DefaultPath directory will be considered.  What this means is that you can control which drives WinTvCap will consider by simply creating or deleting the DefaultPath on each drive in your computer.

Don't forget to run Register.bat

K.

Julia,  make sure you are using the latest drivers and be sure you've run the Register.bat to point DirectShow to the latest ksivac15.ax.   Let me know if it still isn't working for you because it should work with the latest driver.  If it still fails, try -audio:NOT_THERE to tell WinTvCap not to screw around with the Micranous part and thus skip the failing IOCTL call.
