Sound Issue

I recently Picked up a wintv 1600 and cant seem to get the sound to work right.  The picture comes up just fine when I flip through the channels but I get a loud static over the audio.  I can just faintly hear the correct audio under the static, though not enough to tell you exactly what they are saying.  Does anybody know how to fix this?

I am running XP pro service pack 2 and a Nvidia c55-mb sound card.  Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated

I made a mistake I have service pack 3  :oops:  not sure if that changes anything though...

How do you have this hook Cable settop box, Sat settop box, Antenna?.
Input type coaxial cable or RCA jack?.

Its from a coaxial line from a cable box

SHS:
Why are using coaxial line from a cable box when should be using S/Video output form the cable box
In most case's it sound like you may have gound loop problem with Static/Humm.
