Radio stutters in Win 7 MCE after 10-30 minutes of playback
cantrellg:
I have Win 7 Ultimate x64 with HVR-2250, latest 2250 drivers installed. After 10-30 minutes or so of radio play, the audio begins to stutter and eventually stop. I can change to another station and audio starts again. I can change back to original radio station and it too plays fine. After 10 minutes to 1/2 hour, audio starts to stutter again, etc. Are other users experiencing this problem in Win 7 MCE radio? When I first installed the 2250, I used the WinTV7 program and did not have this problem. It only seems to occur under MCE. :(

I tried it under WinTV7 again on Windows 7 and the stuttering starts in 10 minutes or so. I have now rebooted under Vista Ultimate and will perform the same test with WinTV7 and Vista MCE. I used the same driver install package for Windows 7 and Vista since it supported both.

I rebooted my PC off of my Vista Ultimate x64 (SP1) HD and have played the radio for 90 minutes under MCE radio with no stuttering or drop-off encountered. Without rebooting, I proceeded to use WinTV7 1.2a to listen to radio. Same results, the radio plays fine with no stuttering. This problem only exists for me when running under Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I am going back to Windows 7 and try different combination's or sequences of events to see if it reduces or aggravates the problem.

I am now running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 again. During all of my problems with radio, I had my OTA antenna hooked up to the 'F' connector for TV as well as an FM radio antenna hooked up to the other 'F' connector for FM radio (as my Hauppage documentation indicates). I decided to disconnect the FM antenna expecting to lose all radio reception, yet I did not. Only when I unplugged the TV antenna did I lose my radio reception entirely. I then re-connected the FM antenna to it's respective 'F' connector and began to receive radio signals, nice and clear once again. I have had the radio playing through WinTV7 for 50 minutes now without any stutter. The OTA antenna is still disconnected from the 2250.
I will leave the radio playing and see if this problem disappears. Could someone else try the same thing on their PC and see if they get the same result. Depending on my long term results with WinTV7, I will change to MCE radio tomorrow and see if the problem occurs or not with it as well. If the problem is radio signals being detected thru the OTA TV antenna then I guess I need to purchase an effective FM trap to install on my TV antenna and then test again.

Mixed results so far. Sometime during the night Wintv7 radio quit working. I started MCE radio at 9:30 AM this morning and at 1:50 PM it is still playing radio with no stutter.
