What is the best DVD-ripped format for MediaMVP playback?

(1/1)

Drewster:
I'm interested in using DVD Fab to make backups then play on TV through MediaMVP. What's the best format? I've been experimenting, mostly with AVI, but not much success. I've used VirtualDub to convert recorded TV (MPG) into AVI files (XviD) to get a smaller file size, but haven't yet found an AVI format in DVD Fab that works.

Thank you.

SHS:
The problem with MediaMVP was never really made to play XviD, DivX it has no hardware support to do this in Realtime so there for software it end up converting it back in to MPEG in realtime if you have fast CPU to keep up with trasond coding
Have you try change the fourCC to DivX5.0 that may help.
This device is best use with MPEG1/2 how ever the newer MediaMVP HD model will support a lot more becuases it far better Hardware Decoder from Sigma Designs in fact it pettey the same as the two below so if need something rigth now there alway the SageTV HD Theater or WD TV Live
They are standlone device so all you only have share a folder for your network you want it to see like Video, Photo and Audio folder no software is needed.

Drewster:
Thank you for the reply. What is fourCC?

I installed XviD codec and AC3Filter and rebooted. I am now playing some AVI files. Still much more investigation awaits to find what works best.

SHS:
What is fourCC well it video codec and pixel format information
Go here for software that change the fourCC

Some AVI's a tricky most of all will play using DivX Pro 7. You need a min of 2.0GHz for AVI MVP Server otherwise you'll get an error.
