Basic composite video capture software??
(1/1)
dusty_nz:
I came across a WinTV-PVR-500 capture card which caught my eye because of its composite input ports. It was free so greate value.
I have installed it in my HTPC box which is running Server 2008 (AKA Vista 32bit)
No issues installing the drivers. Have restarted and cards are fine. Problem is with WinTV issueing a WinTv initialization Error. hTV=0
I have googled this error and no apparent fixes.
Now I am not too fussed at this stage. All I am looking for is a way to capture video off the Composite ports. No antenna's will be attached so don't care.
Can anyone recommend a simple application to capture video and save to disk. No problems converting using other programs using Adobe Premiere.
All I will be doing is converting old family videos to DVD.
Thanks
Paul

Being that your runing Server OS my guest would that maybe miss DirectX and other thing

Actually Server 2008 comes with DX10 and Aero can be enabled.
A lot of people rate it the best gaming platform as its has all the features of Vista without the extra fluff
I like it a lot. Run it as a workstation. Laptops and desktops.
Advantage on my HTPC is it support software Raid 5.
Anyway, Any tips on capturing Composite video?
Paul
