IR Blaster - learning doesn't work
« on: October 04, 2008, 05:55:17 PM »
Hello all

I have in Wintv pvr 150 and I would like to control my cable set top box with the IR-blaster (Version 4.00.4286). My box is from Pace (DC 621 KU) from UPC cable provider in vienna.

Unfortunately there is no code set by default for this box existing in the blaster. To overcome this problem i found in the "advanced setting" -> "learning" of the ir blaster the possibility to teach them the basics.

As explained I pressed then button "1" on the application and then for about 1 second the "1" button on the remote control. But all it get is the following error message:

LearnKey(1) - please press button to learn now ...

ERROR: LearnKey(1) returned 1

I also tried to modify the time frame pressing the remote controller button - with the same result.

To be sure dont having a problem with the ir sender and receivers, I tested the the remote control with my set top box and it works. Additionally I tested the IR receiver by starting winTV with the hauppauge remote control and this also work. So from hardware side should be everything fine.

Does anyone of you has a glue how to overcome this problem.

Many thanks in advance

hello shs

Thanks for your fast response.
So there is there no possibility to control any hardware which is not part of the initial code set? Maybe you know a other tool which offers this possibility.

There is perhaps a round-about way to accomplish your goal. It would involve another piece of hardware - USBUIRT (an IR receiver/blaster) and a different recording application software that supports the USBUIRT. (GB-PVR, Sage, etc)

Setting everything up fresh and learning to operate new applications could be a pain, but once set up it should be as easy to run as WinTV. (perhaps easier/better since many people dump WinTV as soon as possible)

It's also possible that some of those alternative applications might support the built-in blaster better, but I don't have any first hand knowledge. You should search their forums for comments about the blasters.

Hello

Thanks for your answer!
I still hope they will improve the software or there is a other more or less tricky solution :-) .
