This beta driver supports SPDIF bit stream audio (AC3 Dolby Digital). To install: download and unzip the file, then run "hcwdriverinstall.exe" to insure the new driver is correctly installed. NOTE: The current version of Arcsoft Total Media Extreme can not burn AVCHD disks with 5.1 audio. Discs created with the current TME will contain AC3 2 Channel audio. An updated version of Arcsoft Total Media Extreme with full 5.1 support will be available soon. Post any problem you here http://ftp://ftp.shspvr.com/download/wintv-hdpvr/hdpvr1.0.3.53beta.zip

Only problem I have encountered when using SPDIF. When using my DVR fastforward/Rewind/hitting play after pausing. Picture will Freeze for 5 seconds and return back to normal. Everything else seem fine to me.
----------
Also just noticed that ever 15 minutes it freezes for 5 seconds and returns back to normal.

They don't work for me! I installed them and now TME won't see the device at all. I rebooted comp and device, still no go. Rolled back to the old 1.0b drivers and the device shows up. I am running vista 64 bit. I will be emailing haupaugge shortly................Brian

I got a prompt conserning hcwhdpvr.ax The file in the beta (1.0.3.53) was earlier than the version that I had installed from the 1.0B drivers (1.0.4.0). This causes a do you want to overwrite the newer file popup. I said yes, the drivers installed.
I then opened TME and start the capture tool which sees the HDPVR. The preview window shows fine. If I hit Device settings, things are fine. But if I hit "Format Settings", I get a popup error
Error:GetAudioEncoder() failed hResult 0x80070490
After I hit OK on the error message I do get a screen where I can select AAC or AC3 for two channel audio sources. No where do I see choices for 5.1. My hdpvr is currently not connected to the SPDIF so that might be the reason.
I have to go out for a few hours... will post more later

It will default to 5.1 audio if it is available with in the stream if not then it default back to 2.0 it not something you need worry about that is done automatic Some of this depend on how you setup your settop box For Example on Dishnetwork Dolby Digital/PCM Dolby Digital Only PCM Only
You want to use Dolby Digital/PCM option.

I'm trying to use the new 5.1 drivers with a DirecTV HR-21 and I do have the optical SPDIF passthrough connected. DD 5.1 is being detected by my audio receiver during preview and recording with TME, which seems to work fine, but I'm only getting 2.0 DD audio in the final recording. I checked my DirecTV box's settings, and the only choices for Dolby Digital are ON or OFF... no DD/PCM combination is available. It was set to ON. If I change it to OFF I no longer get a DD signal. Now what do I do?

I have tried several channels, including Showtime and HBO, new movies with 5.1 audio. No, HR21 menu only allows ON or OFF settings under Audio --> Dolby Digital. In the final recording, OFF gives 2 channel PCM audio, ON gives 2 channel DD. Again, this is recording with TME.

I am using SageTV and using an extender to view the HDPVR. I am getting 5.1 audio using the driver. However whenever I change the channel there is a loud pop noise. I'm not sure if this is driver related or a SAGE issue.

So i'll just use that method for now, until TME catches up with the 5.1 driver. (Maybe even after that, if my results are better. I was getting a lot of video glitches with TME and this new driver also.)

I have confirmed that with SPDIF connected the above GetAudioEncoder error does not happen. However my system hangs when SPDIF is selected as the audio input with TME. =Alan

The new drivers appeared to install fine on my machine (Vista 32) and TME recognizes the optical input. Unfortunately, audio output is now choppy and very distorted. Is there anything you'd like me to test or any other information that might be helpful in isolating this problem. If not, I'm going to have to roll back to the old drivers until there is a version that resolves this problem.
