Is Wing in addition to Mpeg2 recording?
« on: July 20, 2007, 04:19:35 PM »
Hi,

I want the ability to record in the DVD Standard Profile and at the same time to have a reduced resolution, bitrate, and different codec of the same show for video-iPod, or PocketPC etc.

Is Wing a replacement for the standard recording or is it something that will be done in addition to the regular recording?

Will it be done in real time as the standard recording or will it have to wait until the standard recording is finished and then start the conversion?

Will it be able to automatically do its job for recordings scheduled through TitanTV?

Thanks!

"Will it be able to automatically do its job for recordings scheduled through TitanTV?"

By that I mean: When I click the record button on TitanTV the program is automatically entered in Scheduler. Would then I have to go inside scheduler and setup Wing to do its job or is there a way for Wing to automatically do a conversion for each program I record?

Thanks againg for your help!

Yes TitanTV it works with Wing and it automatically will do the conversion for each program you record ocen you set the defaults option in the WinTV scheduled program see this post http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?topic=10327.0

Because Mpeg2 is not as efficient spacewise as MP4 based codecs, would it be possible for Wing to be setup to automatically record (live or not) in MP4 full resolution and at the same automatically (at the same time or later) a reduced resolution standard for let's say iPod?

What I mean is: you press the record icon on TitanTV and when all is done you end up with a big MP4 based file and a small iPod file - no Mpeg2 (maybe just as a intermediary)?

Thanks!

Live mode that no

I belive the app was only made for MPEG trasncoding becuases Wing was made for PVR & HVR Family Hardware MPEG2 Encoder so there for you can not by pass MPEG2

Thanks for all your help.

to paraphrase my question: Instead of a choice between - iPod OR SonyPSP OR Divx OR CreeativeZenVision - can I setup iPod and Divx at the same time (though not necessarily in terms of concurrent encoding - could be one after the other)?

Thanks!
