This is very important you must unplug the power supply from your MediaMVP device before install any new update ocen that done.
Uninstall the old Hauppauge MediaMVP software application from Start | Programs | Hauppauge MediaMVP by clicking on Uninstall, then install new ver then plug back-in you MediaMVP power supply.

FYI, I finally got a release newer that 2.4 working

I was always getting  "connecting server.." and reboot forever...

On a whim  I upgraded the M$ .NET framework from 2.0 to 3.0 and suddenly 3.3.24338 works for me.
Popped into my head as the last problem I had with an install was a missing gdiplus.dll when the volume overlay was added.

Either
  a) .Net 3.x is a requirement
  b) something got "fix" in my registry by upgrading .NOT
  c) cosmic radiation and alignment of planets...

Hope this helped someone with a similar problem.
