Conclusion:

Over all, the MPEG image quality is very good when both
recording & playing back MPEG. However, this it is a
different story when watching TV as the video it is out
sync "vertical". In fast action movies you can see it
but I unable to capture screenshot of it.
I wish Hauppauge had WDM (Windows Driver Model) drivers
since the included VFW drivers are bit outdated and with
WDM drivers are new standrad for new OS like Win2000/XP.
Why WDM Drivers? Well, they provide greater functionality
related to video quality, such as the ability to select
different modes - doublefield versus single field and bob
and weave as well as just single field mode. That flexibility
is not provided with VFW drivers. The downside is that WDM
drivers use overlay ring 0 flipping to accomplish their video
which is highly dependent on the graphics driver kernel mode
flipping support, So it is highly dependent on the support
from the graphics driver.
Time-Shift Recording is very good when recording & playing back
like should be.
However, my overall impression is that the Hauppauge WinTV PVR is
still a very good capture card but still need a more work on the new
driver format.
The first, and only, problem I had with setting up the WinTV-PVR was,
for some off-the-wall reason, it did not appear to like a fast AGP bus
speed. The first time I tried any MPEG recording I got a streaming error.
Now, I have an Abit BH6 with the good old BX chipset and a P3 600E
overclocked to 8000EB that mean my AGP bus speed is 89Mhz with a
fsbus speed of 133Mhz. I all so tried a fsbus speed of 124Mhz, but that
was no good either. However, selecting a fsbus of 112Mhz or lower at 2/3
AGP in the bios worked fine: that was very weird!
