Applications:

BeyondTV 4.0
BeyondTV Link 4.0
Screenshots:

Note: I only posted one screenshot of BeyondTV Link becuase it is
the same as BeyondTV with a few small diffrent from each other
the logo and it showing the host name of the server are
connected to.
Testing:

ATI Theater 550 Pro
MPEG Test using defaults setting
MPEG2 MAX 15.0MBit/sec, FullD1 720x480
DVD Extra Long Play, FullD1 720x480
DVD Long Play, FullD1 720x480
DVD Standard Play, FullD1 720x480
And all my other Custom Profile
Some DivX, WMA, etc
All the above formats work well in playback or live preview mode.
Test 24 hour non stop recording and not one time did it ever crash. Bugs:
So far I haven't had any problem capturing or setting up
scheduled recordings, or even just watching TV or Radio.
It seem to be very solid application.
Wish List:
  • Built in MediaMVP support
  • Better ScreenSaver more like 3D Screensaver
  • Picture in Picture
  • DVD Playback
  • Channel logo
  • Radio UI (Ekk need work)
  • Picture Slideshow
  • Audio Jukebox
  • Radio FM MP3 recording/scheduler support
  • Integration FireFly Remote with out the UI software as an option
  • Watched, 1st Run's, Don't Like, etc Icon with in the TV Guide and Show Info

Conclusion:

BeyondTV new UI is much better looking then ver 3 with lot of other
improvement.
I just love the fact that I'm able to scroll through 2 weeks of TV
guide listings once the database is downloaded. I like the search
capabilities too and the favorites manager (Recording Setting and Priorities) and there much more. Do you just HATE scheduling conflict becuases you wanted record another show at the time or need overlap 1min-/+ on the schedule recording for editing, with the support of Multiple Tuners on one PC say good bye to the miss part of the show. Some cool features Skip commercials, Showsqueeze (Divx and WMV Transcoding) but you do need a fast system and best of all is it Web Remotely TV scheduling which can done any where by going to Snapstream.net Program TV Guide website which is very handly it your going out of town. I hear they add HDTV support but was not able to test it being I don't have an HDTV card. Just so you know there even EPG Data Plugin's like XMLTV plugin if you live outside of Canada or the U.S or tvtv for Europe.
One thing I like about it is I can change channels on my
Cable box which makes it much easier to schedule recording
different shows on different channels thank to the USB-UIRT IR Baster which is very useful for Multiple Receivers setup and BeyondTV support a few other IR Blaster.
You can use just about any Software MPEG2 Decoder and can make use of some video cards that support some MPEG Hardware acceleration like DX9 VMR, iDCT, MC, etc, etc depend on your video card you have. Oh, and did I tell you it has Hardware Deinterlacer support and along with host of other options too boot. I'm very dispoint with Radio UI which has no push button number if I know radio number I want go to with out the using very small arrow buttom and lack of the a way to do scheduling or record in to MP3 and there no option to enable ScreenSaver or Visualization and one other thing I think would be useful is be able to go back to main screen with out the Radio stopping so we can browse though the TV Guide for scheduling new show, One other small problem is thet the Radio will used default quality setting so there no way to set Recording Preferences for it which I think not good thing becuase if you setup a default recording quality at Good (DVD Ready) that eat up a space but not some encoder like the ATI 550 can do very low video bitrate under 2MB/sec like few other card can which one of the main reason why I and I'm sure min folks would perf just MP3 recodering. Installing BeyondTV was eazy and very uer friendly with mouse or remote control.
Just so you know BeyondTV also dbl as Server. Oh most folks don't that BeyondTV has Admin Home which web base Control Panel spmile starting your Web brower and type in "http://localhost:8129/" or if you know the IP of the sever and enter but I like see this integration. I found it to be faster and more reliable then older ver of BeyondTV and dosen't eatup memory as ver 3 did which is very nice improvement. BeyondTV Link new UI is much better looking then ver 3 with lot of other improvement. Best of all some of you love this BeyondTV Link but dose not support TV card so what can do is Streaming LiveTV, Per-Recording Video, FM Radio Streaming, etc to any PC on the your loacl network. Plases keep in mind being BeyondTV and Link are in a diff class vs other PVR package, BeyondTV is more center a round TiVo-like functionality and not a Multi-Media Center like other PVR package, even know SnapStream has a product called Beyond Media which not turely integration in to BeyondTV so there for it a FrontEnd.

Con's:

BeyondTV & Link has a some main limitation like no Picture Slideshow
no Audio Jukebox and DVD Playback build in which really need to
Integration BeyondMedia which would make nice All-in-One package
becuase the way they have it now the memory useage needed for
it gose though the roof.

Final Words:

Overall I'm very impressed with it right now and its overall
performance, so I giving it a 8.5/10.
