Frequently Asked Questions:

WARNING! nVidia add macrovision protection start with 41.09 drv and up
you should be ok GF4 but older GF2 and GF3 that have S-Video/Composite
output you may run in to problem with it if has card as BT868 or CX25870
TV encoder which do not support Macrovision and there one other problem
the Xcard and VIP port don't display any video with drv higher then 40.72.
So you get no Video try going back to older 40.72.

Q: I see white dotted line on top side of the captured video.
A: It's probably left over closed caption data sometime there on the rigth
side of the video depend on the broadcast channel you are viewing.
Since the entire video frame is captured, you see it on the computer, however
on output, this region lies in the overscan area, and it's not visible on
normal TVs. Some projectors, however, don't overscan so it may be visible.

Q: How can I save my TV, Radio channel list so I may do a clean install?.
A: You need export the registry Note 2K/XP user: Change the save type to
"Win9x/NT4 Registration Files {REGEDIT4}" that way you can use it usder
Win9x OS as well
TV channel: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\channels
Radio channel: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\Radio

Q: I'am having trouble getting your Hauppauge WinTV-PVR to coexist with some
video editing software.
A: If you're having trouble getting your Hauppauge WinTV-PVR to coexist
with other video editing software. Try download the this Turn No or Off the SoloCap Try this if all eles fail sent by Kevin If you're having trouble getting your Hauppauge WinTV-PVR to coexist
with Sonic Foundry's Vegas Video or other video editing software under
Windows 2000, then this will probably correct the problem. In particular, we are speaking about spontaneous GPFs that occur when
loading particular video editing sofware. Modifying the following batch
files slightly will probably fix similar problems under Windows 95, 98, XP, etc.
1. Create a directory called C:\VIDEOCAP
2. Create two batch files with the following contents:
VIDEOCAP.BAT
-------------------
move c:\videocap\hcwSoloCap.ax c:\winnt\system32
move c:\videocap\Hcwutl32.dll c:\winnt\system32
VIDEOEDIT.BAT
--------------------
move c:\winnt\system32\hcwSoloCap.ax c:\videocap
move c:\winnt\system32\Hcwutl32.dll c:\videocap
Adjust pathnames as necessary.
3. Obviously, run VIDEOCAP.BAT when you want to capture video with the
WinTV application, and run VIDEOEDIT.BAT when you want to run your
favorite video editing applications that will not function otherwise.
Note that you will not be able to use your WinTV PVR under these applications.
Moving these two files "out of the way" completely solves the problem.
The question of why these two files are not compatible with all video
editing sofware is unknown to me, and perhaps Hauppauge needs to take a
closer look at how they are implementing their drivers.

suggestion asking in the PVR forum before doing anything also post system spec all
of it.

List of Common sync problem

1:
Q: MPEG1 and play back fine before doing any editing but soon I do some edit there are
out sync why?.
A: Don't worry about audio sync just burn in to CD and it should be in sync after that.

2:
Q: My audio is out sync why?.
A: Here has been experience with the audio/video sync problems that some of you see if
use WinTV2000 or Hollywood Plus (Note: Up to 2GB max files size) it play back just fine
how ever if you use let's say the Windows Media Player or WinDVD and some case even
PowerDVD it has sync problems, Just so you know WinTV2000 ALWAYS uses the Intervideo
DirectShow MPEG2 decoder.
Note: Some motherboard can also cuase this problem to like chirpy audio, bad audio sync when
playing back your MPEG videos? Do you have a VIA based motherboard? These problems are due to
the MPEG file being corrupt before data packets are written to the hard disk.
You might need to try download the VIA or VIA latency v019 patch.

A: Call loacl hauppauge tech support for a new board.
The following revs incorporate the color fixes.

Any Rev C must be at least Rev C5xx
Any Rev D must be at least Rev D3xx

Q: I get up-side down MPEG clips in the Windows Media Player.
A: It sound like you didn't close WinTV2000 frist or you didn't start a new
recording.
Rigth after you record you video you are supposed to push on play button to
play it back.
Anthoer other caused is a VGA related problem.
VGA cards that do not correctly support video overlay mode, or have overlay
issues can cause this to happen.
Playback must have be done in Windows Media player.
If the VGA card is supposed to support overlay, then an updated VGA driver
would be required.

Q: Hollywood+ DVD decoder can't play my split or span the files made by
the WinTV-PVR why is this?.
A: Each subsequent file does not start with a clean MPEG header.
All so like point out the max file size 3.99GB that the Hollywood+ can even read
under Win2000/XP even with NTFS due the fact the Hollywood+ dosen't support DirectShow
it only support Legacy MCI but you can use the WinTV2000 or Windows Media Player
to play them back also note SoftDVD player can't read more 3.99GB as well.
