Recording a MPEG Video with WinTV-2000 |
On left top side of WinTV2000 click on the PREF button “Preference Menu”,
Click on Capture tab and then MPEG tab from the “Quality Level” pull down menu and select MPEG1 VCD OK.
Note: Win2000 folder path is ?:\Documents and Settings\”Computer Name”\My Documents\My Videos\

Push the Rec button
then Record button or OTR button to start recording:
Note: I recommend not using the VCD button being it doesn’t always work.
Option 1:
Buy Ulead DVD MovieFactory very easy to use VCD/SVCD/DVD Authoring Software Note: To slow as and MPEG editor.
To theses you that have WinTV-PVR 250/350 just use Ulead DVD MovieFactory SE and burn.
Option 2:
Go to Start | Programs | Hauppauge WinTV | click on the “VCDConvertApp” link
Click on Add File find your clip once you then click on Convert.

Now you can see it is in VCD Compliance format just click on burn in to the blank CD.
Note: VCDConvertApp
default label name is always “NEW” on the CD.

Note the VCDConvertApp is a bit on the slow side.
I recommend using TMPGenc Converter or Womble Multimedia MPEG2VCR being it a lot fast.
Just show you all the diff in time take “Done under Win2000”
5min capture MPEG1 VCD (_dvcr001.mpg) file size is 47.4 MB (49,803,264 bytes)
TMPGenc beta 12h, 5sec to convert, file size is 50.2 MB (52,674,560 bytes)
MPEG2VCR 3.11, 15sec to convert, file size is 47.4 MB (49,725,440 bytes)
VCDConvertApp 1.6.18349, 25mins that if it doesn’t crash at the end “Win9x user should be fine”
Nero 5.5.2.4, 27mins re-encode to VCD then burn to image no CD
Now you ready to watch it on your Home DVD Player or your Computer.
